| The Sands Macau opened in May 2004 after
a two year construction period and a cost
of US$240 million. Within 10 months all
construction costs had been repaid, more
than one year ahead of schedule. In 2006,
the casino increased its gaming area from
165,000 ft² to 229,000 ft² making
it the worlds largest casino based on number
